The Pennsylvania Democratic Party and Biden for President are seeking a talented Deputy Voter Protection Director for Election Administration through the 2024 general election to (i) ensure that all eligible Pennsylvania voters have an opportunity to vote and have that vote counted, and (ii) support the statewide coordinated campaign operation in the fight for the soul of our nation. The ideal candidate is passionate about voting rights and is committed to the mission of electing President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Bob Casey and Democrats up and down the ballot. We are looking for individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences in election law, voter protection, advocacy, political campaigns, and/or management and are dedicated to building a coalition that looks like Pennsylvania.

The Deputy Voter Protection Director for Election Administration will work alongside the Voter Protection Director, Deputy Voter Protection Director, and other members of the statewide Voter Protection Team to lead the program’s election administration work by cultivating relationships with county boards of elections and local party leaders and developing strategies to identify and resolve problems encountered by voters across the Commonwealth. This position will also work closely with other members of the statewide Voter Protection Team to design a comprehensive voter education program and build capacity through recruitment and management of staff and volunteers.

In this position you will:

  • Lead the monitoring and advancement of election preparedness and ballot access at the county level (67 counties throughout the Commonwealth).

  • Develop and implement the mail-ballot chase/cure program.

  • Build and maintain relationships with election administration officials, elected officials, local organizations, and other community leaders.

  • Develop and maintain expertise on Pennsylvania’s election administration framework (federal, state, and local), identify gaps, needs and other resources (financial, technical, logistical, etc.) to support municipal-level preparedness, and advance proactive improvements to voting.

  • Supervise the recruitment and management of additional Voter Protection Team staff and volunteers.

  • Assist with the creation of and approval of voter education materials.

  • Collaborate with other campaign departments to collect and disseminate timely election administration developments and other voting information/data from state and local election administration officials.

Top things we’re looking for:

  • Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals and enthusiasm for electing President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Bob Casey and Democrats up and down the ballot.

  • At least 2 cycles of campaign experience working in voter protection, political, or organizing preferred (at least one cycle of staff management is preferred).

  • A thorough understanding of election laws and administration is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience effectively communicating complex legal and policy concepts for legal and non-legal audiences.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience juggling multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment that requires exceptional organization, creativity, versatility, collaboration, and problem solving and meet goals under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

  • Juris Doctorate required.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel or Google Sheets, Votebuilder; LBJ experience a plus

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Pennsylvania is preferred, but not required.

This is a full time position located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
